The Indian community in Australia is in shock as horrific details emerge from the murder trial of a man accused of killing a nursing student, according to a report by Makkal Osai.
Tarikjot Singh allegedly abducted 21-year-old Jasmeen Kaur before driving 650km into the Australian wilderness, where he bound her with cables and buried her alive in a shallow grave. During this act in 2021, he also inflicted cuts on her neck.
Jasmeen, who was studying nursing in Adelaide, South Australia, at the time, had previously reported that her ex-boyfriend was stalking her.
Prior to the court case, Tarikjot initially claimed that Jasmeen had committed suicide and he had merely buried her body.
However, earlier this year, he finally confessed to the murder when presented with mounting evidence against him. CCTV footage showed Tarikjot buying gloves, cables, and a hoe. He led authorities to the location where he had buried Jasmeen’s body.
