Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, who has been acquitted of corruption charges by the Court of Appeal, expressed his relief at being able to resume a normal life with his family. The former Felda chairman stated that he always believed in his innocence and respected the legal process that lasted for six years.
He mentioned, “We have known from the outset that there was no issue, but the process must continue and we accepted any verdict along the way.” He thanked Allah for the conclusion of the case and expressed gratitude towards his lawyer and the legal team for their hard work.
When asked if he felt vindicated by the court’s decision, Mohd Isa said, “Whatever the court has decided, it was its right. As the accused, we have to accept the results no matter what and for today’s verdict, I’m thankful for it.”
Regarding his future in politics, he stated that he had not yet decided whether to rejoin but affirmed his loyalty to Umno, saying, “If the situation allows, I will return. But for sure, I am a loyal supporter of Umno.”
His lawyer, Datuk Salehuddin Saidin, indicated that they are prepared for any possibility, including the prosecution appealing to the Federal Court. He mentioned, “We have to be ready in the event that the prosecution brings the case to a higher court (the Federal Court).”
