SEPANG: MYAirline staff have lodged two police reports over unpaid salaries on Tuesday (Oct 31).

“According to the Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi OCS (officer-in-charge of a police station), two reports were lodged.

“However, these reports have been referred to the KLIA 2 and Banting police stations,” said Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Wan Kamarul Azran Wan Yusof, adding that the incidents were within the police stations’ respective jurisdictions.

On Oct 12, MyAirline abruptly suspended operations, citing financial issues pending shareholder restructuring and recapitalisation.

About 125,000 passengers, with tickets worth RM20mil, were affected by MYAirline’s sudden suspension.

Following the announcement on Oct 16, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said the license of low-cost carrier MYAirline Sdn Bhd would be suspended temporarily.

The airline’s co-founder, Datuk Allan Goh Hwan Hua, had been on the radar of authorities for the past two years for alleged dubious activities, including alleged scams and money laundering.

Two months before the low-cost airline started operations in January, a company owned by him and his wife, Datin Neow Ean Lee, was reprimanded by Bank Negara Malaysia and fined RM50mil for illegal deposit-taking.

He, his wife and his son were arrested by Bukit Aman police at 5.30pm on Tuesday (Oct 17) at their residence in Shah Alam.
