SHAH ALAM: A Myanmar woman was found stabbed to death by her eldest son in her home here on Tuesday (Aug 20).
In a statement on Wednesday (Aug 21), Shah Alam OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said that the 40-year-old woman was found dead in her home in Seksyen 25 after a neighbour was informed by her youngest child, who had just returned from school.
He said investigations showed that the victim had gotten into a scuffle with the suspect before she was stabbed with a sharp weapon. The body showed multiple stab wounds.
He added that the police gathered statements from eight witnesses, and at the time of the attack, the victim’s husband was at work.
ACP Mohd Iqbal said a 20-year-old Myanmarese man was arrested not far from the house at around 7.30pm the same day.
He said the suspect was the victim’s eldest son, and checks confirmed that he had no prior police records or any history of mental illness.
“Also found was the weapon believed to have been used in the murder. We have found that the suspect was unhappy because of the constant scolding he received due to monetary issues,” he said.
The man has been remanded for seven days, and the case has been classified as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
