KUALA LUMPUR: Eight barrels believed to contain chemicals were dumped in a 30.4 cm-deep drain in Sungai Buloh.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the incident occurred at Kampung Desa Aman in Sungai Buloh at about 9.02pm on Tuesday (Sept 24).

“The operation commander reported that eight barrels of liquid believed to be chemicals were found in the drain.

“The Environment Department (DOE) has taken an initial sample to be tested,” he said in a statement on Thursday (Sept 26).

He said the operation is still ongoing, with the Hazmat team, personnel from other agencies, including the DOE, Shah Alam City Council, and the police at the scene.

“The barrels have not been removed as Hazmat personnel are still collecting samples,” he said.
