PUTRAJAYA: Deafening cheers fill the streets as the National Day celebration begins in Dataran Putrajaya here.
Malaysians proudly wave the Jalur Gemilang and cheer during the 2024 National Day parade.
Stands along the boulevard were packed to the brim on Saturday (Aug 31), with some people standing on tiptoes to get a better view of Dataran Putrajaya.
One of them was teacher-student Aina Laili Asyiqin Abdul Shafri, 22, from IPG Kampus Ilmu Khas at Cheras. She said she is most excited to see the baton thrown at the start of every marching group.
“This is my first time coming to the Merdeka parade, and I’m very happy and excited,” she said.
Another university student, who wishes only to be known as Lim, said she was glad to see the famous “Abang Bomba.”
“They are so handsome. If anything happens to me, I hope to be rescued by them,” she quipped.
The spectators were also awed during the airshow when Royal Malaysian Air Force jets zoomed across the Dataran Putrajaya, with the roar of their engines filling the air.
