PUTRAJAYA: The Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has called on all state governments to adopt the official theme and logo introduced by the Federal Government for the National Day Celebrations 2023. Fahmi stated that several menteris besar have expressed their willingness to use the logo and theme at the state-level as well. He emphasized the importance of unity and stated that the time for politics is over.
In May, Fahmi announced that the theme for the 2023 National Day and Malaysia Day celebrations would be ‘Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan, Penuhi Harapan’ (Determination in Unity, Fulfilling Hope). Along with the theme, the Malaysia Madani emblem was introduced as the official logo for the celebrations.
However, Perikatan Nasional Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari recently stated that the four states under the Perikatan administration will use a different National Day logo and theme for their state-level celebrations. These states are Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu. They will likely use the alternative logo and theme ‘Teguh Muafakat Malaysia Sejahtera’ (Strong Consensus for a Prosperous Malaysia) launched by PN Youth.
Fahmi’s statement came during the Communications and Digital Ministry monthly assembly held on August 21. He urged all states to adopt the same logo and theme to promote unity and solidarity among Malaysians. He stated that it is time to put aside political affiliations and focus on fostering the spirit of unity.
The National Day Celebrations 2023 preparations are proceeding smoothly and as scheduled. Fahmi expressed his hope that all states would align with the Federal Government’s chosen theme and logo. He emphasized that flying the Malaysian flag should be the priority, highlighting the aim of closing ranks and enhancing a sense of national unity.
The official logo ‘Malaysia Madani’ and the theme ‘Determination in Unity, Fulfilling Hope’ were introduced earlier this year. It signifies the determination of the Malaysian people to work together and fulfill the aspirations of the nation.
Fahmi’s call for adopting the same logo and theme aims to overcome divisions and create an atmosphere of harmony and togetherness.
The use of the alternative logo and theme by the four Perikatan-ruled states has raised questions about the level of unity within the country. However, Fahmi remains hopeful that all states will come together and prioritize the spirit of unity above political differences.
