PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has described the 2023 National Day celebration as an extraordinary success and a demonstration of racial unity in Malaysia. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his delight in the exceptional turnout of over 100,000 people from different races and age groups at Dataran Putrajaya on Thursday (Aug 31).

In a brief comment, Dr Ahmad Zahid praised the celebration, stating that it was well received by everyone. Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof also commended the procession, performances, and demonstrations that were organized for the country’s 66th National Day program. Fadillah Yusof expressed his gratitude that the event was a success and showcased unity.

One of the highlights of the event was the challenge and agility segment, which showcased the skills of the Royal Malaysia Police Elite VAT 69 Commando Unit. They performed a precision skydive from a height of 4,000m. Additionally, the Malaysian Armed Forces displayed 50 assets in the Putrajaya air space, featuring fighter jets like the RMAF’s Sukhoi Su-30MKM, F/A-18D Hornet, and BAE Hawk. The air show also included transport aircraft such as the A400M and C130 Hercules, as well as helicopters belonging to the Army and Navy.

This year marks the fifth time that Putrajaya has been chosen as the location for the National Day celebration. They previously hosted the event in 2003, 2005, 2018, and 2019. – Bernama
