About 17,000 participants are set to join the National Day 2023 parade in Putrajaya on August 31, according to Communications and Digital Ministry senior undersecretary (management) Mazlan Abd Mutalib. Mazlan stated that the parade will consist of 10 components, including Nationhood, Unity, Malaysia Madani, Economy, Banking, Telecommunication, Creative Industry, Community, National Sports, and National Welfare and Security. He further added, “The preparation for this event started in April, right after Hari Raya and takes four months.” Mazlan, who is also the celebration’s working committee secretary, mentioned that 30 marching bands will participate, involving schools, departments, and the armed forces. The theme of the National Day 2023 celebration is “Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan.”
Mazlan revealed that the event will feature 516 vehicle assets from the Armed Forces and the police. Additionally, several artistes from different ethnic backgrounds, including Nadeera Zaini, Suki Low, Zizi Kirana, and Roshini Balachandran, will perform the song ‘Kurik Kundi,’ previously popularized by Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza Tarudin, to symbolize unity. Accompanied by 1,000 dancers and 400 drummers from various races, these artistes will represent the Malay, Chinese, Sabahan, and Indian communities, respectively.
Furthermore, Mazlan shared that visitors will witness a skydiving performance of six VAT69 commandos carrying the Jalur Gemilang flag, who will land in front of the Palace of Justice within six minutes. To accommodate visitors, a total of 4,000 parking spaces, toilets, and a big screen will be provided for their convenience. Mazlan’s statements were made during his appearance as a guest on Bernama TV’s Apa Khabar Malaysia program on Tuesday, August 22.
