SEREMBAN: The Negri Sembilan Road Transport Department (JPJ) conducted a special motorcycle operation last month, resulting in the issuance of 8,123 summonses. These summonses were given for a variety of offenses, including driving without a license, expired Motor Vehicle Licenses (LKM), and driving under the age of 16. Furthermore, 827 motorcycles were seized during this period. In total, 28,586 vehicles were inspected throughout the operation.
In its statement released today (Oct 1), the department emphasized that 40 cases involved underage riders below 16 years old. The department urged parents to be attentive to this issue, as these teenagers are not eligible to ride motorcycles on the road, posing a risk to both themselves and other road users. Additionally, 126 motorcycles were confiscated from foreigners without valid driving licenses. The statement, as reported by Bernama, highlighted that the most common offenders were motorcyclists aged between 17 and 35, with 5,013 violations recorded.
For the public’s safety, the department reminded individuals to ensure that their driving licenses and LKMs are still valid prior to commencing their journeys. It also stressed the necessity of maintaining the technical condition of their vehicles to comply with regulations. The department stated that it takes offenses involving motorcyclists seriously and will continue to advocate for road safety awareness among the public. The enforcement actions implemented serve as cautionary examples to deter riders from committing offenses.
