An authorized diesel retailer in Seremban has been fined RM200,000 by the Sessions Court for selling diesel to a company without a valid license from the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.
Negri Sembilan’s director of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, Muhammad Zahir Mazlan, reported that the court ordered MCM Petroleum Sdn Bhd to pay the fine after not contesting the charge.
The company’s director, Man Wee Wong, pleaded guilty to selling the controlled item to HHR Setia Sdn Bhd.
Muhammad Zahir stated that the company was charged under rule 9(2) of the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974, for an offense committed at the company’s premises in the Sri Lukut Industrial Area in Port Dickson on July 5.
“We would like to warn any company dealing with controlled items to comply with the relevant laws, (or) stern action will be taken against you, including being charged in court.
“We hope the public can be our eyes and ears to enable us to effectively check illegal activities related to controlled items including smuggling,” he said on Wednesday (Dec 13).
Muhammad Zahir urged anyone with information on such illicit activities to contact the ministry by sending a WhatsApp message to 019 279-4317/019 848-8000; or by calling 1-800-886-800 or 03 8882-6245/6088.
