Lotuss Stores (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (Lotus’s Malaysia) and the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) have teamed up for the sixth edition of the “Buy Malaysia Campaign” to celebrate National Day. The main objective of the campaign is to increase consumer interest in locally produced goods and support small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in marketing and showcasing their products.

The launch event took place at Lotus’s Cheras in Kuala Lumpur and was attended by Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Fuziah Salleh and KPDN Kuala Lumpur director Ariffin Samsuddin.

Azliza Azmel, the corporate services executive director of Lotus’s Malaysia, expressed the company’s commitment to providing customers with the best value and supporting local SMEs. She stated, “The spirit of #KitakanJiran also drives us to continue supporting local SMEs.”

Currently, Lotus’s Malaysia collaborates with 112 local SMEs, offering over 900 product lines, of which 90% are certified halal. The campaign launch included product samples from 17 homegrown brands and three social enterprises. The retailer also announced the addition of 12 new suppliers to its SME network, providing local brands with access to Lotus’s resources, expertise, and distribution lines.

As a further step to empower SMEs, Lotus’s recognized the 10 best performing SMEs of 2022 through the presentation of awards. Azliza highlighted that around 90% (3,000 items) of Lotus’s own brand products are manufactured by local SME partners, many of which have become household favorites. She also emphasized that these locally produced alternatives are around 15% to 20% cheaper than other brands, while maintaining the same quality.

Last June, the retailer invested RM50mil in the permanent price reduction program called #LotussLebihMurah, covering over 3,500 products. In addition, Lotus’s continues to offer various value-centric campaigns such as “Segar & Murah,” “Hari-Hari Harga Rendah,” “Purchase with Purchase (PWP),” and “Weekly Promotions,” aiming to provide customers with the best value for their money.

The retailer also runs a free loyalty program where customers can earn reward points for every purchase made in-store or online. Furthermore, Lotus’s maintains its commitment to offer affordable meals by providing RM5 “Menu Rahmah” meals at all of its 59 food courts. Azliza revealed in her speech at the campaign launch that through their daily food surplus program, the company has provided a total of 10.4 million meals to 120,000 vulnerable families.
