PETALING JAYA: Sherpa Dawa, a Nepali security guard, was recently recognized for his honesty and integrity after he found a suitcase containing over RM500,000 in a parking lot and promptly handed it over.
His employer, A5 Security Service, commended Dawa for his dedication to his job and presented him with an award to acknowledge his exemplary conduct.
“We are proud to share that our dedicated security officer Sherpa Dawa has been recognised and honoured for his exceptional integrity and honesty,” the company stated in a Facebook post on Saturday (March 23).
Dawa was presented with the award and a gift by the company’s director, Hardeep Singh Jaswant, who expressed gratitude for Dawa’s loyalty and honesty.
“We are really appreciative of his loyalty to the company and his honesty. They are well-trained and know what to do and they don’t want to take the risk of taking such a big amount (of money),” said Hardeep.
Having worked for A5 Security Service for four years, Dawa humbly stated that he was simply carrying out his job responsibilities when he found the bag containing a substantial amount of money.
“When I found the bag, I didn’t feel scared because we were trained by the company and I knew it was my responsibility. I didn’t even think about the amount of money in the bag. I just did my job,” he shared during an interview on Friday (March 22).
Earlier in the week, a suitcase filled with over RM500,000 cash in RM10, RM50, and RM100 denominations was discovered at a shopping center in Damansara and promptly handed over to the authorities.
