Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof stated that the new Cabinet lineup announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim aims to strengthen the federal administration and the country’s economy. Fadillah, who retains his position as the Deputy Prime Minister, was also appointed to lead the newly-created Energy Transition and Public Utilities Ministry. In addition to this, he will also oversee matters related to Sabah and Sarawak.
Fadillah believes that the appointment of new authoritative faces, the creation of new ministries, the reorganisation of duties in existing ministries, and the exchange of portfolios will drive every plan or agenda prepared by the Madani government for the well-being of the people. He emphasized that the reshuffle of the Cabinet was carefully considered in order to prioritize the interests of the country and stable politics, which are crucial for stimulating and strengthening the economy by attracting investors.
In a statement on Tuesday (Dec 12), Fadillah expressed confidence in the Prime Minister’s careful assessment of the suitability of each minister and their respective knowledge and skills, based on close monitoring of the unity government throughout the year.
Fadillah pledged to carry out his new responsibilities in the best possible way, building on his previous experience in portfolios such as the Plantation and Commodities Ministry and Works Ministry. He urged other Cabinet members to focus on working for the people and the country, while continuing to strengthen the bonds of unity in the Madani government.
With regard to the affairs of Sabah and Sarawak, Fadillah promised to prioritize efforts to resolve outstanding issues and properly position MA63, bridging the gap between Sarawak, Sabah, and the Peninsula. He expressed appreciation and gratitude to the management, officers, and employees of the Plantation and Commodities Ministry for their cooperation during his time, and called for similar cooperation for his successor, Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani.
Lastly, Fadillah expressed his hope for building a stable, advanced, and prosperous Madani Malaysia based on the Federal Constitution and Rukun Negara principles, regardless of race, religion, and political beliefs.
