PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that a new National Industrial Master Plan will be revealed shortly, following the unveiling of the National Energy Transition Roadmap on Tuesday. In his National Day address, he stated that this industrial plan will propel Malaysia towards becoming a high-tech industrial nation, driving digital transformation, and generating employment opportunities for young individuals.

Anwar emphasized the importance of Malaysia being recognized for providing justice for all its citizens, including those who are underprivileged, rather than merely for its skyscrapers. He also highlighted the government’s commitment to improving basic facilities in all schools throughout the country by October, in order to preserve existing infrastructure and cater to the needs of students and parents.

This initiative will form part of the mid-term review of the 12th Malaysia Plan, which is scheduled to be presented in the Dewan Rakyat in September. Anwar believes that this endeavor holds more significance for parents and students than grand architectural landmarks.

The government will also continue its efforts to ensure reasonable wages in order to establish a sustainable economy. Anwar stressed that it would be unfair to attract investments worth billions of ringgit if wages remain stagnant, and acknowledged the need for change in the salary system and adjustments for civil servants.

Anwar acknowledged Malaysia’s lack of progress over the past two decades and stressed the nation’s potential to rejuvenate its economy and dignity. He urged Malaysians to choose unity, strategize, and uphold the country’s dignity rather than succumbing to unrest, doubt, and political or racial hatred.
