    New Petaling Jaya OCPD pledges to keep community ties strong, lower crime index further

    PETALING JAYA: ACP Shahrulnizam Jaa’far @ Ismail has been appointed as the new Officer in Charge of the District (OCPD) here.

    He replaces ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid.

    In his farewell speech, ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead the district police for nearly three years.

    “It has been a valuable experience over these two years and 10 months.

    “I have fulfilled my responsibilities to the best of my abilities, with the support of everyone in the district and the leadership at Selangor police headquarters,” he said following the handover of duties ceremony for the post on Friday (Feb 23).

    An emotional ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin expressed his appreciation for the close relationship between the Petaling Jaya police and the community.

    “Ensuring the security and safety of 1.2 million people in PJ is not easy, and we have managed to do so with the support of the community.

    “The district police have successfully reduced the crime index for three years since 2021,” he added.

    Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, who was present at the ceremony, commended ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin for his efforts in not only lowering the crime index but also in alleviating the fear of crime in the district.

    “His performance during his tenure as PJ OCPD has been consistently excellent.

    “His leadership has boosted public confidence in the police force through his dedication to every task,” he added, lauding ACP Mohamad Fakhrudin as an exemplary senior officer.

    “He has a promising future ahead of him, and I am confident that he will achieve even greater success,” he said.

    “On behalf of the force, we salute you,” he added.

    He added that the district is one of three in the state to have reduced its crime index this year.

    Meanwhile, ACP Shahrulnizam affirmed his commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the people in Petaling Jaya.

    “I am fully aware of the responsibility and the high achievements of the district police.

    “I consider this as a challenge and will strive to ensure good governance and strengthen the bond with the community,” he said.
