A new road has been opened in Kampung Chubadak, Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, which is expected to reduce commute time by up to 30 minutes for locals travelling to the city centre during peak hours. The road, measuring 130m and consisting of two lanes, connects Taman Dato Senu 3 with Jalan Kampung Bandar Dalam. The official opening took place on Saturday (Oct 7) and was carried out by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) and developer Melati Ehsan Group (MEG).

This road project was a condition imposed by DBKL as part of the development order issued to MEG for its projects in the area. Mayor Datuk Seri Kamarulzaman Mat Salleh explained that DBKL had received requests from Batu and Wangsa Maju Members of Parliament for the construction of this road in order to alleviate congestion resulting from rapid development in the area. “The developer has constructed around 2,500 high-rise units here, with three more development phases in the pipeline,” he stated at the opening event.

Mayor Datuk Seri Kamarulzaman Mat Salleh also highlighted that the newly opened stretch of road is equipped with a 1.5m-wide walkway on both sides and solar-powered streetlights. Meanwhile, MEG’s CEO, Datuk Leong Chee Kian, confirmed that the project cost RM5.5 million for land acquisition and RM3 million for construction.

A spokesperson for DBKL added that the chosen site for the road was previously privately-owned unused land. Batu Member of Parliament, P. Prabakaran, who was present at the inauguration, stated that the road will benefit over 50,000 daily road users. “Not only will it benefit the residents of Sentul, but also those travelling through the area from other parts of the city,” he emphasized.
