A family in Seremban was left in a lurch after the caterer they had engaged for a wedding disappeared at the last minute, leaving them to prepare the food themselves. The incident was shared by the newlyweds’ brother, Burhanuddin Rabbani Abdul Shukor, 31, on Facebook. The caterer was expected to provide food for 1,000 guests as well as the wedding throne.

Despite the caterer’s absence, the wedding proceeded at Serting Junior Science College Hall, resulting in a loss of RM13,000 for the family.

Burhanuddin expressed his frustration on Facebook, stating that they were conned by the caterer who did not show up despite repeated calls. As a result, they had to prepare food for approximately 400 guests, serving simple dishes such as curry chicken, sambal belacan, fruits, and fresh vegetables. The family even went as far as to lodge a police report at the Bandar Seri Jempol police station the night before the wedding.

Additionally, Burhanuddin mentioned the possibility of taking the case to the Malaysian consumer claims tribunal or seeking legal advice from lawyers to address the situation. Meanwhile, the Jempol district police chief Supt Hoo Chang Hook confirmed the matter and stated that it was under investigation under Section 420 of the Penal Code. – Bernama
