The official car of Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming was captured on camera tailgating an ambulance. Nga has clarified that his driver gave way to the emergency vehicle and did not intend to break any traffic laws.

Nga explained that the incident took place on the PLUS North-South expressway on Feb 3 while he was en route to an official event in Ipoh.

He stated that his driver noticed a private ambulance following their car and immediately gave way to the vehicle, which he later discovered was heading to the scene of a road accident.

Nga mentioned that due to traffic congestion, his driver followed the ambulance as they tried to find a way to resume their journey to Ipoh.

In a Facebook post, Nga emphasized that he always prioritizes rescue efforts and did not have any intention of breaking the law. He also stated that he instructed his officer to cooperate fully with the authorities and is willing to settle any fine imposed on his driver if they are found to have committed an offense.

Perak police chief Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri reported that the police had taken a statement from the minister’s driver on Thursday (Feb 8).

He also mentioned that a police report was lodged over a video showing a minister’s vehicle tailgating an ambulance on its way to an accident site at KM305 of the North-South Expressway at 10:27 am on Feb 3.

Mohd Yusri added that the police will be calling up other witnesses to the case and examining CCTV recordings obtained from PLUS. He also noted that the police have obtained a dashcam recording taken from the ambulance.
