The priorities of DAP’s Nga Kor Ming have shifted, according to Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon. Nga is now focusing on “BMW – bersih, menawan, wangi (clean, captivating, fragrant)” public toilets, rather than championing the recognition of the Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) and freehold titles. While Dr Mah acknowledges the importance of clean public toilets, he believes there are more pressing issues affecting the Chinese community.
Dr Mah states that the issues of UEC and freehold titles were promises made by DAP, and now that they are in power, they should fulfill those promises instead of keeping quiet. He calls for sincerity in their actions and urges them to deliver what has been promised.
Nga recently announced that the Local Government Development Ministry is requesting a RM300 million allocation for the upcoming budget announcement to build “BMW” toilets nationwide. He emphasizes that the Chinese community is requesting action and expects delivery on the promises made by DAP.
Dr Mah highlights the challenges faced by MCA since its founding and reassures the community that the party will always stand up for them and find ways to help and assist them.
Tony Khoo, the Ipoh Timur MCA chief, expresses support for Dr Mah and affirms that the MCA division stands with him regardless of the position he contests in the party polls.
In other news, MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong announces that nominations for the MCA national-level party elections will be held on Monday (Sept 11) from 1pm to 5pm at the San Choon Hall in Wisma MCA. Voting for the party elections will take place at polling stations in each MCA division nationwide on Sept 24 from 2pm to 7pm.
