Perak PKR’s chairman and deputy chairman positions will remain unchanged despite the reshuffling in the party’s leadership in six states, according to Tan Kar Hing, the party’s state election department director and Gopeng MP. He stated that Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Chang Lih Kang and Mohd Hairul Amir Sabri will retain their respective positions. Only Chang will have the authority to disclose any changes to the committee members.

The party’s state leadership will convene for a retreat from March 8 to 10 in Pulau Pangkor to deliberate on various issues, including the possibility of reshuffling or adding new positions. Tan mentioned that the focus of the discussion will be on important roles and strategic maneuvers to regain state seats lost in the previous election. While the state leadership remains intact, there might be an increase in positions to reinforce the leadership for the upcoming election.

Addressing the challenges ahead, Tan highlighted the need to prepare for contesting seats and identify strategic areas for significant political changes in Perak’s landscape. He emphasized the importance of internal discussions within Pakatan Harapan and potential negotiations with Barisan Nasional following the formation of the Unity Government. As of now, no formal discussions have commenced, but efforts are being made to enhance cooperation between the two coalitions.

Discussion on seat negotiations may begin this year, although Tan has not received any specific details on the matter. In terms of the Chinese New Year celebrations, Tan announced that an event will take place on March 3 at the Tanjung Piandang community hall from 7pm to 11pm. Approximately 2,000 attendees are expected to participate in the event, which aims to strengthen the party’s presence in rural areas like Kuala Kurau.
