NO additional costs were involved in setting up the Budi Madani diesel subsidy system as it was developed by civil servants, says Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying.

She said no external consultants were engaged to develop the system and therefore, the issue of whether it went through an open tender process does not arise.

“There were no additional costs. It was all done by government officers. It was developed internally,” she said in response to a question from Datuk Suhaimi Nasir (BN-Libaran) in the Dewan Rakyat yesterday.

Lim said the Budi Madani system had used all available government data to ensure that no eligible Malaysian was left out from the diesel subsidy.

As of June 8, over 30,000 applicants had been approved to receive aid under the Budi Madani system.

Diesel prices in the peninsular have been floated since June 10.

Subsidised diesel is still provided via fleet cards at RM2.15 per litre to eligible logistics vehicles to mitigate any effects on the price of consumer goods.
