KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has told the new Cabinet members that there is no honeymoon period for them. The Prime Minister emphasized the need for the ministers and deputy ministers to work with purpose and speed.
“This government must promptly solve the problems of the people, eradicate poverty, stimulate economic growth and ensure the country prospers,” he said at a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday (Dec 13).
Anwar, who chaired the meeting a day after the reshuffle, made clear the role of every ministry in the post. In a Facebook post, he welcomed the five newly appointed ministers and extended appreciation to former human resources minister V.Sivakumar.
The new ministers include Finance Minister II Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah Azizan, Plantation and Commodities Minister Datuk Seri Johari Ghani, Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad, Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo and Human Resources Minister Steven Sim.
Anwar announced a Cabinet reshuffle involving some 20 ministries on Tuesday, raising the number of Cabinet members from 28 to 31 and increasing deputy ministers from 27 to 29, bringing the total number of members in the unity government administration to 60.
