KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur police chief, Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid, stated that no investigation has been initiated in connection with a report filed by Tanah Merah MP Datuk Seri Ikmal Hisham Abdul Aziz regarding a photo that allegedly depicted him vaping in Parliament. Comm Datuk Allaudeen explained that no criminal elements were identified, leading to the conclusion that further investigation was unnecessary. He shared the update during a press conference held at the Sentul police headquarters on Saturday (Sept 23) and confirmed that the report had been carefully reviewed.
A police report was previously filed against Prime Minister’s photographer, Sadiq Asyraf, by the MP’s special officer. The report was lodged due to the circulation of an image that purportedly showed the politician vaping in the Dewan Rakyat. The image was captured by the photographer and uploaded on his X (formerly Twitter) account along with the caption “Betul-betul koyak terus tarik vape sambil keluar dewan,” which translates to “unacceptable, immediately starts vaping while coming out of the Dewan Rakyat.” The photo was posted on Sept 21.
Ikmal had previously denied vaping within the Dewan Rakyat, insisting that the cylindrical object in the photo was a pen, not a vape device. At present, no investigation has been initiated in response to the report by the MP, as the police have determined that there are no criminal elements warranting further action.
