Kepala Batas: In his eight-month premiership, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim denies using his position as Prime Minister to belittle Malays or Islam.
In Parliament, I have questioned any actions that have betrayed Malays and Islam,” Anwar stated.
His support for Chow Kon Yeow as Penang Chief Minister does not constitute a betrayal. Anwar emphasizes the importance of political honesty and acknowledges the nation’s desire for peace.
“Malays and those of the Islamic faith hold all top positions in the country and other states, including the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Prime Minister, Finance Minister, Chief Judge, Attorney General, and Bank Negara Malaysia Governor,” he added.
During the state-level Malaysia Madani Seminar at Bertam Resort on Sunday, July 16, Anwar urged against racial animosity that could undermine national unity and values.
Speaking to attendees, Anwar expressed his willingness to introspect and make improvements where necessary.
He stated, “Give me time, and I will make improvements. However, there is one thing I will not tolerate.”
Anwar, citing his personal experiences and commitment to the people’s trust, vowed not to steal from the country or allow corruption to persist.
He firmly asserted that he has never abused his power as Prime Minister or Finance Minister to misappropriate government funds.
