KUALA LUMPUR: The Immigration Department has stated that a false message is being circulated regarding special approvals being given to illegal immigrants under the Workforce Recalibration Programme (RTK 2.0). In an announcement on Wednesday (Sept 6), Immigration director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh acknowledged the existence of a voice recording that claims individuals who became illegal immigrants after Dec 31, 2022, would receive special approval under RTK 2.0.
“The recording asserts that special approval will be granted to only 5,000 applicants,” Ruslin Jusoh said, adding that Immigration vehemently denies this claim and warns the public not to be deceived by fraudulent agents or middlemen. According to him, this implementation goes against the government’s policy established during the launch of the RTK 2.0 programme on Jan 27, 2023.
“The policy is straightforward – only foreigners who became illegal immigrants until Dec 31, 2022, are eligible and will be considered for RTK 2.0 approval,” he explained. Furthermore, he advised the public not to spread false information that can cause confusion and anxiety within the community. Instead, Ruslin Jusoh urged people to visit the Immigration Department’s official portal and social media accounts for accurate and up-to-date information.
