PETALING JAYA: Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has dismissed a viral tweet claiming that a former Health director-general will be participating in the upcoming state elections as “no news but creating news.”

When asked about the validity of the claims made by @ArwahMakLampir on Twitter, Dr Noor Hisham clarified that the speculations were unfounded.

The tweet in question read, “Speculations (sic) are rife that an ex-DG of MOH (Health Ministry) will be contesting in the DUN (state legislative assembly) Selangor?”

In April, Dr Noor Hisham retired after 35 years of service in the government, during which he played a key role in Malaysia’s fight against Covid-19.

Perikatan Nasional is expected to announce its candidates for Selangor, Kedah, and Penang on Wednesday (July 26).
