The Perak MCA Youth chief, Daniel Wa, has stated that it is ethically wrong to use government funds for the promotion of a political party. Wa argues that these funds belong to taxpayers and should not be affiliated with any political entity. When contacted on Thursday, Wa emphasized that government allocations must not feature any party logos, as it should be common sense to do so.

On Wednesday, the Local Government Development Minister, Nga Kor Ming, downplayed recent criticisms regarding the appearance of the DAP logo on mock cheques intended for school donations. Nga stated that as long as the schools receive the funds, it does not matter if party logos are present or not.

The controversy began on August 19 when Nga was photographed handing over mock cheques with the logos of his political party, as well as Malaysia Madani and the national coat of arms. It was reported that 17 Chinese primary and secondary schools in Perak received an allocation of RM1.8mil from the Education Ministry.

Wa argues that Nga, who has consistently advocated for a “New Malaysia” and the spirit of Malaysia Madani, should practice what he preaches. Wa expressed hope that Nga would not repeat this behavior.
