The number of flood victims in Kedah has decreased to 114 individuals from 36 families on Sunday (Oct 1), as compared to 408 people from 136 families earlier in the day, according to Kedah Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) disaster management secretariat division chief Major (PA) Muhammad Suhaimi Mohd Zain.
As of now, all 114 evacuees are still being accommodated at two relief centres (PPS) in the Kota Setar district.
“The two relief centres which are still in operation are Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Taman Aman, housing 101 victims from 33 familes, and SK Seri Gunung, which is accommodating 13 evacuees from three families,” said Major (PA) Muhammad Suhaimi.
Furthermore, PPS Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Alor Merah, which had been opened on Thursday, has been fully closed as of 6pm today (Oct 1) after all evacuees were allowed to return home,” he added, according to a statement released on Sunday night. – Bernama
