The Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama) has announced the appointment of Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin as its new Editor-in-Chief, effective immediately.
Nur-ul Afida Kamaludin, 56, is the first woman to hold this position since Bernama’s establishment in 1967.
Nur-ul Afida will be taking over the role from Jamaluddin Muhammad, who was recently appointed as the agency’s CEO on Oct 19.
Jamaluddin praised Nur-ul Afida’s appointment, highlighting her extensive experience in journalism and her previous role as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of News Services since June this year.
Having been with Bernama for 38 years since 1985, Nur-ul Afida had previously served as the Head of Strategic Planning and has worked in various departments and units within the agency, including the General News Desk, Malay Subs Desk, Photo Unit, Feature and Strategic Writing Desk.
In addition, she has also been a trainer at the Bernama School of Journalism since 2009.
