A nurse was reportedly murdered by her spouse at their residence on Jalan Padang Nyu in Arau. The body of the 31-year-old victim was discovered in the bedroom after her husband turned himself in at the Perlis Contingent Police Headquarters at approximately 10am yesterday. Arau District Police chief Supt Ahmad Mohsin Md Rodi revealed that the victim appeared to have sustained a 2cm deep stab wound in the chest, inflicted by her husband using a knife during the 6am incident. He further shared that the husband, a 38-year-old retired military personnel, is believed to have been engaged in a jealous argument with the victim. The couple have two sons, aged eight and 10, the officer added. A knife suspected to have been used in the crime was also found in their home. The husband has a previous criminal background related to drugs, while the motive for the murder is currently undergoing investigation. The victim’s body was initially sent to Tuanku Fauziah Hospital in Kangar before being transferred to Sultanah Bahiyah Hospital in Alor Setar for a post-mortem. The case is being probed under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
