Over 100 stakeholders attend course on building maintenance, issues and practices in Subang Jaya

A TOTAL of 104 participants comprising stakeholders in the strata management field attended a two-day professional course on development, maintenance and management of stratified buildings.

The Strata Technique Approach Towards Resilience (MyStar) programme, launched by Subang Jaya mayor Mohd Fauzi Mohd Yatim, was organised by Subang Jaya City Council (MBSJ).

The programme, touted as the first of its kind in Selangor, was organised in collaboration with Koperasi Subang Jaya Bhd and held at a hotel in Sepang.

“Attendees comprised stakeholders in the strata management field, such as developers, property managers, joint management bodies, management corporations and officers from local councils,” MBSJ’s Corporate And Strategic Management Department said in a statement.

“This course is a complete module regarding maintenance of stratified buildings and provides exposure to those involved in the management and maintenance of stratified buildings.”

The programme was aimed at providing participants with the latest information regarding current technical issues that occur in stratified buildings and action that could be taken by the parties involved.

They also learned about improving current practices in building maintenance, and used the event as a medium to exchange views on property or facility management.

The participants were also provided with knowledge on the best possible methods for building maintenance.

“It is hoped that the course would increase participants’ understanding of stratified building management,” said the statement.

“The programme is also in line with the Local Government Development Ministry and Selangor Housing and Property Board’s (LPHS) call for the monitoring and assistance for all parties involved, whether directly or indirectly, in the development, management and maintenance of stratified buildings.”
