Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate Iskandar Turkee emerged as the victor of the Jepak by-election. The announcement was made by the returning officer, Abang Zainuddin Abang Turkey, at 8.30pm on Saturday (Nov 4). Iskandar secured 9,638 votes, winning by a significant majority of 8,784.
The three-way contest saw Parti Bumi Kenyalang candidate Stevenson Joseph Sumbang receiving 854 votes, while Chieng Lea Phing of the Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party garnered 431 votes.
According to the Election Commission, the voter turnout for the Jepak by-election stood at 48.47% when the polls closed.
