A man in Kota Baru, Kelantan, has transformed an old school bus into a sundry shop, attracting crowds to Kampung Tanjong Katong. Mohd Sofri Jusoh, 49, came up with the idea to convert the bus during a discussion with his brother, Mohd Fauzi, 63, who is the bus’s owner. The old Ford school bus was no longer functional, and they didn’t want it to go to waste. With a fresh spray paint job, the bus now has a unique and eye-catching appearance.
Mohd Sofri is planning to add more items to his shop and relocate the bus to a more strategic location near the village, thanks to the positive response it has garnered. They have added a few extra features to the bus to ensure customer comfort, including two fans, two exhaust fans, windows, and a flexible main door for good ventilation. They also invested RM5,000 in refurbishing the bus.
According to Mohd Sofri, this makeover idea is a cost-effective alternative to renting or building a new shop. It also provides a platform to showcase their creative work to the public. He even turned down an RM18,000 offer for the bus, appreciating its newfound purpose and value.
