PETALING JAYA: The Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to form a partnership, transitioning from political rivals to allies.
In an effort to maintain political stability in the state and the country, PDP president Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing emphasized the significance of this agreement.
“Although we were once adversaries, we both share the common goal of achieving a prosperous nation and political stability,” said Tiong.
He further added, “By joining forces, we will work together to ensure the stability, solidity, and unity of the state government. This will foster greater investor confidence and promote further development in the state.
Tiong expressed his optimism regarding the collaboration, stating, “Our partnership will not only strengthen the Sarawak state government but also encourage the contribution of innovative ideas for the betterment of the people.”
PSB president Datuk Seri Wong Soon Koh, who is also the state Opposition leader, echoed Tiong’s sentiments on the importance of political stability.
Wong pledged that PSB would collaborate with both the current Sarawak government and the federal unity government to uphold political stability.
PDP is a member of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), the ruling coalition in the state government with a majority of 76 seats.
Tiong currently serves as the Tourism, Arts, and Culture Minister in the unity government.
Meanwhile, PSB holds four seats in the state assembly, while DAP holds two.
