Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan announced the revival of the programme, PLKN 3.0, on October 31. The programme will target youths who have completed their SPM examinations. Concerns were raised by the public on social media platforms after the ministry stated that the programme would target individuals between the ages of 16 and 35.
The PLKN, which was introduced in 2004, involved the random selection of 18-year-old youths for a compulsory three-month programme.
