“The plan is to hold it in Permatang Pauh and Bagan Datuk. Many people are still interested in protesting,” said a member of the rally’s organizing committee on Sunday (Sept 17).
Bagan Datuk is the constituency of Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, while Permatang Pauh has been the family legacy seat of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for two decades.
The Save Malaysia rally concluded on Saturday (Sept 16) without any incidents.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Allaudeen Abdul Majid stated that although the rally did not comply with the provisions of the Peaceful Assembly Act, the police took all necessary measures to ensure its smooth running.
“The rally started around 1.15pm at Masjid Jamek Kampung Baru and ended near Sogo Kuala Lumpur at around 3.30pm.
“Based on our preliminary investigations, 16 individuals delivered speeches during the rally. The organizers also filed a police report at the Dang Wangi police headquarters during the rally,” he said at a press conference on Saturday.
