    Over 30,000 summonses issued during Respect Traffic Laws ops in KL

    KUALA LUMPUR: More than 30,000 summonses have been issued by city police in 11 days during the Respect Traffic Laws operations.

    Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) chief Asst Comm Saifudin Mohd Salleh said in a statement on Saturday (June 15) that 33,362 summons were issued between June 4 and June 14.

    A total of 1,901 summons were issued for illegal parking, with a further 939 issued for driving without a licence.

    Police also issued 25,405 summonses for traffic obstruction.

    Throughout the 211 operations conducted since June 4, the police also arrested 66 people and seized six vehicles, five motorcycles and a lorry.

    It was previously reported that KL cops were coming down hard against traffic offenders in a large-scale city-wide operation codenamed Respect Traffic Laws.
