GUA MUSANG: According to the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, a total of 474,384 people in Kelantan have benefited from over RM4.4mil in subsidies through the Rahmah Sales Programme since January.
Kelantan director Azman Ismail stated that 679 Rahmah Sales Programmes had been organized in 14 parliamentary constituencies targeting B40 areas, with sales exceeding RM24mil.
Residents, including those in rural areas, can enjoy discounts of 10% to 30%, making this program very advantageous. In Gua Musang alone, 26 series of Rahmah Sales Programme resulted in RM270,000 worth of subsidies,” Azman told reporters at the Gerakan Pengguna Daerah Gua Musang Appreciation Night programme at Taman Ethnobotani on Dec 18.
Azman also mentioned that wholesalers have been given a 30% additional quota of essential items during the monsoon season. There have been no reports of price increases, and supply remains under control at present.
An integrated operation conducted with 14 agencies across the state from Dec 12 to 14 confirmed that there were no price hikes. However, a few arrests were made related to leakages of subsidised items such as diesel,” he added.
The ministry also seized assets worth RM1.5mil through Ops Tiris, which was conducted from March 1 to Sunday (Dec 17).
