GOMBAK: Two men have been arrested and 93.82kg of methamphetamine valued at RM3.1mil has been confiscated following raids near Batu Caves. A local man, 34, and a 42-year-old Indonesian national were detained during the raids on Oct 15. According to Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, the first arrest took place when police conducted a raid on a parking lot in Batu Caves around 9.35pm, acting on a tip from the public. Officers also searched the suspect’s nearby car, where they found four canvas bags filled with packets labeled as Chinese tea. Upon inspection, they discovered the packets actually contained transparent bags of methamphetamine. Further investigation led police to an apartment nearby, where the Indonesian man was apprehended. Comm Hussein revealed that the local suspect works as a motorcycle mechanic, while the Indonesian man is unemployed. The local individual has a previous criminal record related to drugs. The police chief also stated that the suspects were acting as transporters for a drug syndicate. The parking lot apparently served as a drop-off point, while the apartment was being used as a storage facility for the illegal substances. The drugs are believed to have been supplied from a neighboring country and were meant for both the local and overseas markets. The total amount of methamphetamine seized in the operation was 93.82kg, with an estimated value of RM3.1mil. This would have potentially supplied 187,648 users. The syndicate is believed to have been operational since early this year. Comm Hussein commended the public for their cooperation, stating that these successful raids were made possible due to their assistance. He also encouraged individuals with information about drug-related activities to contact the Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) hotline at 012-2087222.
