    The Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) reported that a total of 104 arrests were made and goods and assets worth almost RM5.5 million were seized under Ops Khas Pagar Laut 1/2024 from March 18 to April 4. MMEA director-general Admiral (Maritime) Datuk Hamid Mohd Amin highlighted the agency’s active efforts in protecting the country from various criminal threats in its waters nationwide.

    Hamid expressed concerns about potential attempts to smuggle out subsidised control items like rice and cooking oil for sale in neighbouring countries where there is a high demand for such goods.
