Pahang Barisan Nasional (BN) in the state of Bentong is prepared to undergo an investigation by the Election Commission (EC) concerning allegations that the coalition has been utilizing state government assets and machinery during the ongoing Pelangai state seat by-election campaign period. State Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail expressed that the claims made by Perikatan Nasional are merely part of a slanderous political game commonly observed during election seasons. Wan Rosdy further revealed that the allegations regarding a supposed desire of four assemblymen from Barisan to join Perikatan hold no truth, as all assemblymen have pledged their unwavering support to him.
“I view the issue of exploiting state government machinery as slanderous, and I trust the EC to conduct an investigation without any issues. It is, indeed, the responsibility of the Election Commission to do so,” he mentioned during a press briefing at the launch of Rumah Rakyat Pahang Phase 4 2023 at Dataran Simpang Pelangai on Thursday (Oct 5).
When asked to comment on PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man’s recent remarks urging the EC to investigate BN machinery for allegedly utilizing state government assets and machinery, as well as offering incentives to the people throughout the Pelangai by-election campaign period, Wan Rosdy, who also serves as the Pahang Menteri Besar, made the aforementioned statements. The by-election, scheduled for October 7, will witness a three-way battle between BN candidate Datuk Amizar Abu Adam, PN candidate Kasim Samat, and Independent candidate Haslihelmy DM Zulhashi.
The Pelangai by-election has been called following the untimely demise of the incumbent, Datuk Seri Johari Harun from BN. Johari was tragically killed in a plane crash in Bandar Elmina, Shah Alam, Selangor on August 17. – Bernama
