Pahang aims to increase the number of entrepreneurs obtaining halal certification and expand the range of halal food products produced for both local and international markets. Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail, the Mentri Besar of Pahang, emphasized the importance of halal certification due to the high demand for such products globally. He stated that consumers, both domestically and internationally, seek assurance regarding the ingredients in their food. Wan Rosdy referred to the recent call by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to enhance the production of halal food products and obtain proper certification.
Wan Rosdy made these statements during the 50th Anniversary Celebration of the Pahang State Farmers’ Organization. He also highlighted the state government’s dedication to this cause, particularly given Pahang’s status as one of the country’s leading vegetable producers. He encouraged the organization to diversify its crops instead of solely relying on oil palm cultivation as a source of income.
Wan Rosdy advised the farmers’ organization to adapt to changing weather patterns that affect the country’s food supply. Cultivating various vegetables and fruits would allow them to meet the people’s needs effectively. Additionally, the government is willing to provide suitable land for this purpose. If successful, this expansion would bring significant benefits to the organization, which currently has 70 members, according to Wan Rosdy.
