KUANTAN: According to a state exco member, the Pahang Mentri Besar made a slip of the tongue during a rally, where he called for the destruction of Palestine. Fadzli Mohamad Kamal, the chairman of the state communications and multimedia, youth, sports, and non-governmental organizations committee, stated that Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail misspoke at the Pahang For Palestine rally on Saturday (Oct 28).
Fadzli, who was present at the rally, explained that the Mentri Besar gave an impassioned speech when the mistake occurred. In a viral video clip, Wan Rosdy could be heard shouting “Palestin hancur” (Palestine destroyed) multiple times, before Fadzli approached him from behind to correct him.
Fadzli promptly stepped in to inform Wan Rosdy of the mistake, and the latter admitted to the slip-up. In a subsequent video clip, Wan Rosdy yelled “Israel hancur” (Israel destroyed) and requested for the earlier mistake to be edited out.
“He asked for the mistake not to be publicised. We all know the Mentri Besar has no intention to support Israel. We clearly know that is wrong, but why is the mistake going viral? What is the intention behind all this?” questioned Fadzli.
Fadzli emphasized that there were many other noteworthy aspects about the rally that could have been highlighted, such as Pahang being the first state to organize a large gathering in support of Palestine. Additionally, Wan Rosdy announced that the state government would donate RM100,000 to the Pahang For Palestine fund.
“The Mentri Besar, in a stern and bold tone, condemned the United Nations for its failure to take firm action against Israel. This is what should have gone viral,” asserted Fadzli.
He further urged the public not to spread news that could harm community harmony in their pursuit of popularity, attention, views, and likes.
