The Sultan of Pahang, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has expressed his displeasure and disappointment regarding a news portal’s report titled ‘Sultan Pahang beri amaran terhadap amalan bawaan PAS’ (Pahang Sultan warns against the practice of PAS) which was published on Friday (March 29).
Comptroller Major General Datuk Mohamed Zahari Datuk Yahya stated that His Highness found the report to be defamatory and feared that it could have negative consequences that might create disharmony in the community.
“His Highness clarified that his remarks during the Maran District Development Briefing session at the Chenor Agricultural Academy in Maran did not match the portrayal in the news portal’s article.
“The Sultan’s statement was not aimed at any particular political party and was instead a general reminder that mosques, being places of worship for Muslims, should always be maintained in a clean state,” he said in a statement on Sunday (March 31).
He stressed the importance of all media practitioners, whether from print or electronic media outlets, to thoroughly review and understand each news article before making interpretations that could distort or deviate from the true message.
