SHAH ALAM: Danial Al-Rashid Haron may not be a familiar name to many, but his late father Haron Salim Bachik was a well-known actor who appeared in numerous local television dramas.
However, for the 37-year-old Pakatan Harapan candidate for the Batu Tiga state seat, he does not intend to rely on his father’s popularity to win the election this time.
Having served as a member of the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) from 2018 to 2020, Danial is also well-known to the local residents in the area.
In addition to his role in the MBSA Council, he is also directly involved in the state government administration through the Women and Family Development Standing Committee, where he previously served as the head of the Selangor Special Children Department (ANIS) and the Selangor Children Heritage Department.
Reflecting on his three years of involvement in community-related tasks, Danial decided to pursue a Master’s degree at the University of Selangor (Unisel) Shah Alam, specializing in Special Education. His goal is to enhance his knowledge on managing and supporting special needs individuals in Selangor.
Representing Amanah, one of the main parties in the Pakatan Harapan coalition, Danial Al-Rashid aims to improve the socio-economic status of the population, particularly through empowering special needs individuals and the disabled in the Batu Tiga area.
Despite facing the former Minister of Women, Family, and Community Development, Datuk Seri Rina Mohd Harun, Danial does not view himself as an underdog.
He believes that the performance of the state government under the leadership of Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has been superior compared to the previous administration. The initiatives implemented have garnered greater satisfaction from the people and have reached a wider audience.
Recalling his journey in the political arena, Danial expresses gratitude for the unwavering support of his father, who always encouraged him to pursue his chosen path, even though he deviated from the family’s acting tradition.
In the three-cornered fight for the Batu Tiga seat, Danial Al-Rashid contests against Rina, who represents Perikatan Nasional (PN), and Saiyidah Izzati Nur Razak Maideen from the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance’s (Muda) party. – Bernama
