KUALA LUMPUR: A man has been arrested for assaulting two individuals during a parking dispute at Taman Danau Desa.

The incident occurred when the suspect’s father accidentally hit another car with his door, prompting the car owner to call him “stupid”. This angered the suspect, who proceeded to grab a metal bar and confront the car owner.

A video capturing the incident has been circulating on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Amihizam Abdul Shukor stated that the police were informed about the incident after the 90-second video went viral on Thursday.

“A 48-year-old man also lodged a police report, stating that the incident took place on July 31 at around 9:55am.

“We have initiated an investigation for voluntarily causing harm with a weapon,” he mentioned in a statement.

Following an initial investigation, the police arrested a 45-year-old man on the same day.

“We have remanded the suspect for three days to aid in the investigation,” ACP Amihizam said.

“We urge the public not to speculate on the circulated video,” he added.

In the viral video, a man wearing shorts and a T-shirt (the suspect) can be seen holding a metal bar and approaching another man, who is seen picking up a traffic cone and pushing it towards the suspect. A voice in the background can be heard saying “don’t” as the two men confront each other.

The suspect lunges towards the other person, who quickly retreats before the suspect swings his metal bar and strikes the man. The force causes him to lose his balance and fall.

During the altercation, both men engage in a verbal exchange of profanities. The suspect then warns a woman who is recording the incident to “watch her words” before hitting her with the bar, leading her to drop the recording device.
