KOTA KINABALU: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah remains steadfast in its position against any attempts to overthrow the government.

Sulaman Gagasan Rakyat division deputy chief Datuk Abd Kassim Razali stated that the party will not endorse any irresponsible endeavors of this kind should they arise.

“Therefore, I propose that Gagasan Rakyat as a whole continues to support Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim – PMX, in leading the federal unity government,” he expressed.

He conveyed this during the recent Sulaman division annual meeting of the party.

The Sulaman division is headed by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

Kassim emphasized that the party firmly believes that a stable government is crucial to ensuring ongoing development and progress for the state and country.

He added that Anwar has demonstrated his commitment to looking after the two Borneo states through various planned initiatives and reforms, such as providing more empowerment to Sabah and Sarawak to directly undertake projects worth less than RM50 million.

“Looking ahead, it is evident that political stability plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth implementation of all government plans and policies,” he remarked.

“We do not condone any movements that could potentially overthrow the current government,” Kassim further asserted.

In addition to this motion, Kassim also presented two more points: one to support the Sabah Maju Jaya initiative and the other to urge the Federal Government to collaborate with Sabah in eradicating hardcore poverty in the state.

He highlighted that the SMJ initiative focuses on developing various economically and socially identified areas in the state, particularly post-Covid-19 pandemic.

Regarding the eradication of hardcore poverty, Kassim stressed that the government needs to have closer interactions with the grassroots to better understand and address issues.

He stated that a sustainable plan to transform and enhance people’s livelihoods can only be achieved if leaders and lawmakers have a comprehensive understanding of the ground reality.

Kassim emphasized the importance of implementing local approaches tailored to the unique needs of different districts and communities to bridge the economic gaps among the people.

“All stakeholders, whether at the state or federal level, must work together to make this effort successful,” Kassim concluded.
