Residents and motorists in Kampung Tasek Permai, Ampang Jaya, Selangor should anticipate increased traffic congestion in the area as a lane closure is planned to facilitate pipe installation works for the Langat 2 water treatment plant and distribution system (LRAL2).
Starting next week, one lane of Jalan Permai E, at the intersection of Jalan Taman Putra, will be closed for a duration of one month. This closure will result in only one lane available for traffic to enter and exit Jalan Permai E, according to Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) councillor Mohammad Firdaus Babh.
Due to the significance of Jalan Permai E as a main road used by residents, it is expected that this section will experience congestion during the closure. As an alternative route, motorists can utilize Jalan Besar Permai, followed by a turn into Jalan Permai C, to access Jalan Taman Putra,” suggested Babh.
The pipe-laying works at the Jalan Taman Putra stretch are expected to be finalized by the end of this year, as stated by Mohammad Firdaus. Azrul Izuan Norhaiddin, the site agent for QSE Construction Sdn Bhd, one of the contractors for the LRAL2 project, mentioned that repaving of the roads would commence after the completion of the pipe-laying works.
According to Azrul Izuan, temporary paving will be done until the premix settles. He further specified that this is part of Package 15(2) of the LRAL2 project and added that flagmen will be stationed at the site for safety. Kerb-to-kerb paving of Jalan Taman Putra will commence three months later.
Gabral Anelandu, the leader of Chapel of Ascension of the Lord, expressed his intention to inform the community about the lane closure. He emphasized the significance of this information since the area is home to three schools and several housing estates. Anelandu also expressed hopes for the work to be conducted safely and within the designated timeline.
The estimated cost for Package 15(2) of the LRAL2 project, which spans 9 kilometers from Lembah Jaya Selatan to Taman Pudu Ulu, is RM26 million.
