KUALA LUMPUR: The police have revealed that the 36-year-old man who threw stones at the PAS headquarters building in Kuala Lumpur was under the influence of drugs. City police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain stated that the suspect’s urine test came back positive for methamphetamines. The suspect was apprehended on Sunday (July 30) at Lorong Haji Taib 1 in Chow Kit around 10pm. The police have remanded the suspect while investigating the case under Section 427 of the Penal Code, which relates to committing mischief and causing damage, said Comm Datuk Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain. PAS had lodged a police report on Saturday (July 29) after a man threw stones at its headquarters just hours before the nomination process for elections in six states began.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain disclosed that the suspect was riding a motorcycle and made a noise before throwing the stones. The incident was witnessed by the building’s guards, and a glass panel of the headquarters was shattered.
